Small Acts of Kindness

As a Faith school the 'Small Act of Kindness' initiative is at the heart of our school community. This common vision and sense of belonging to a wider community highlights the diversity of people’s needs. It encourages the children to think about their social and moral responsibility in community engagement and allows them to make a positive contribution.

Each week all children, staff and parents have a spiritual focus based on the gospel message. Children are made aware that each small act of kindness is an act of love. Each of these acts, though small on an individual scale, put together can make a difference to others.

This programme of responding to need emphasises our mission of 'Loving and Learning', brings the school into contact with the wider community, either in the contribution the school makes or the partnerships that are formed. Through this initiative it is an expectation that each person in the school community grows as an individual and in their relationships with other people making them better world citizens.

At St. Gregory’s we do at lot of fundraising for many different charities. Children and staff are aware that all the fundraising we do can make a difference to people’s lives. We are making a positive contribution to the community by spreading our kindness and love.

The charities that we are involved with are:

  • HCPT- The Pilgrimage Trust
  • Acorns
  • St. Mary’s Hospice
  • Poppy Appeal
  • Children In Need
  • Fireside Centre- Homeless in Birmingham
  • Cancer Research
  • Father Hudson Lenten Appeal
  • Sport Relief
  • CAFOD
  • Mill Hill Missionaries

These are just a few of the charities that we try and raise funds for, there are also others throughout the year.

There are many different ways in which we try to raise money for charities including Mufti/Fancy Dress Days, Harvest Festivals, Sports eg. obstacle course, skipping, football matches, collection boxes at Christmas productions, Christmas card posters and Money boxes. Years 5 and 6 also help out as much as they can by arranging cake sales, toy sales, face painting, nail art and penalty shoot outs

Below are some photographs to show how we raise our funds to help others.
